2010 Mini First
Discussion
I am looking out for a Mini first for son as first car, they seem to have the balance between costs & style right but 1 thing I am not sure of.
the 2010 First model cars seem to be a mix of 1.6 & 1.4 engines both with the same out put & insurance & tax costs, whats the story there & is one batter than the other?
thanks.

2009 era MINI 'First' had the older 1.4 engine used in the 'One' but de-tuned to 75bhp.
..in 2010+ MINI replaced the 1.4 engine with the 1.6 engine, but in the 'First' detuned it to the same 75bhp, but being the 1.6 had more torque than the older 2009 1.4.
I have a 2009(59) 1.4 MINI First as a stop gap cheap car for the time being, bought very cheap £800, with the 75bhp engine, and it's very very lethargic, but once going it goes pretty well, probably not much in it in the real world in comparison.
Hope this helps.
