Anyone seen the latest episode on quest? Is the 100k service really that simple? it made me want to go and get one while while they are so cheap.

I watched, thought it was a good episode. Most of the service looks very simple.

In answer to your question......No.

I will take a reasonably well equipped home mechanic a full weekend of reasonable days or a single full-on 16 hour day to complete.

They miss out so many time consuming steps it is unbelievable.

Very doable but not as simple as it is shown.

On top of that there actually isn't such a thing as a 100,000 mile service for the r53.

The supercharger isn't a service item according to bmw/mini.

Great comment E-bmw, spot on. And as you say ....... no such thing as the "100k Service". A figment of silly boy Brewer's ill-informed imagination. . But I did have my SC serviced at 112k - while the engine was out for a new clutch.
But OP - they are currently probably at their cheapest now and for the money are a LOT of fun.
Albeit JCWs and 'lower mileage' unmolested cars seem to be starting to climb in price.
