2005 cooper convertible

Hi all
I've been offered a good deal (price wise in comparison to what equivalents are listed for on the main sites) cooper convertible, it's a cat n write off with easily fixable rear end damage (new boot and bumper)
I'd only be buying for a bit of weekend fun as I've never owned a convertible.
It's got full history and in decent condition other than the accident damage.
Are these fairly reliable cars or any major design flaws to worry about please ?
Wasn't actively looking but sort of fell into lap and always fancies a convertible and fixing a few bits will keep me entertained for a little while
Any advice would be much appreciated
