Mrs Cooper S was weeping a bit of coolant. It got taken for a long run not topped up and it’s now smoking heavily from the front grill and running very lumpy and low on power.

Any thoughts on what’s happened? My guess is a blown head gasket, but I’m not keen on the accompanying knocking. Wondering if the water is in the oil?

I’ve just heard back from the garage. Zero compression on number 3...

Wonder if it’s worth doing the head gasket on a 12 yr old car at 120k miles

Of course it is, alas from what you say it is unlikely to just be the gasket.

As was said above the head is likely warped.
