F56 Software Update

Hi,
I'm hoping some kind person on here can help with my first world problem!
Im trying to update the software on the Radio unit (XL media screen) on my 2016 JCW, However each time I try and start the update with the USB inserted into the port I'm shown a message saying 'Software on USB device incompatible with this vehicle'.
I've downloaded the software directly from the Mini website and copied the downloaded file onto a USB so cant understand why the car wont recognise the file.
My local Mini dealership have offered to carry out the update (at £160+vat) but I'm reluctant as this should be such a straight forward job that I'm sure I could do myself given the right instruction.
Its worth noting I have also tried downloading the file from the BMW website and well as formatting the USB as exFAT and ntfs but nothing seems to fix the issue.
Has anyone else had this issue or have any ideas how to resolve it?
