R53 Cooper S transmission oil?

Seems officially to be 'oil for life', but at 111,000 miles and 15 years, i fail to see how the oil can be as good as it once was so...has anyone here changed their auto transmission oil and is it a complete pain or can it be done with a ramp and normal tools? Thanks.

Mine's a maual, but I changed the gearbox oil soon as I got it at 97k miles.
There are three items that are identified by MINI as being 'for life'. And none of them are!!
1) gearbox oil
2) fuel filter
3) supercharger oil service
All done on mine now.
The fuel filters always come out looking like this.
