hi ,new to mini's and have a 2003 cooper,I would like to check the back end of the vehicle .How do you safely lift just the arse end of the car? anything to watch out for?

From memory I think you’ll find if you use the front jacking point & jack the car up sufficiently the rear will lift too - if you can get hold of axle stands use these under the rear wishbone for safety & never rely solely on a jack if you intend crawling under it whilst it’s up in the air on any form of jack.

There are two jacking points each side, one front, one rear. On a Cooper, which has less deep side skirts than an R53 S, you can see them sticking down ...... if you bend down and look. They very well thought out and engineered compared to most other cars I've ever had. Protruding hard rubber blocks about 3" square. And most of us keen Gen 1 merchants get ourselves on of these excellent SGS Engineering 2T low entry trolley jacks. At £28, rude not to.
