clubman heating fan

got a 2010 clubman one - recently the fan for the cabin heater has started to screech like a banshee on occasions!! I am assuming its the bearings on the fan wearing out?? Car has done 130000 miles so well used but I was planning to run for a while yet as it seems pretty reliable and is cheap to run but the noise really sets my teeth on edge - it sounds like its coming from just behind the dash - anyone had any experience of getting at/replacing said fan and how complex/expensive a job it is?? cheers

I can take the pollen filter out and get up there to spray some wd40 on it which normally cures it for a while. Otherwise you can get it out from the drivers side - I’m sure it’s supposed to be dash out job- but you can do it in situ but you need to unbolt it from the housing and then split the fan itself by unscrewing it all whilst still behind the dash - much quicker than dash out tho
