Well at the ripe old age of 57 I’ve just bought my first Mini

I thought it was time to get a smaller more economical car and be a little more sensible

I have to say I absolutely love it

Here’s a few pictures and spec:

I’ll be doing a few more bits to it,any ideas or info you have will be appreciated,I know nothing about Minis

It gets a lot of attention as well

It was owned by a lady originally from the Knightsbridge area then a chap who had it for the last 9 years set about turning it into a road legal challenge race car.

He only ever did 2 track days a two runs at the Brighton Speed Trials plus journeys to and from Sussex Road and Racing each year to get it MOT'd and serviced.

Basically its like brand new

It most certainly is biggrin

In these days of ever increasing weight and WLTP emissions regulations its nice to have something very light and analog

Its off tomorrow for a service and nice set of silicone hoses, fitting of a matching passenger seat and maybe a BIG brake upgrade

The Cooper S front brakes from an R56 should fit easily and it’s then a matter of some ferodo DS2500 pads & Racing fluid for an easy brake upgrade at sensible £s.

Thanks for the info, will they deal with spirited track day driving?

That's going to be terrific fun! I've modded mine a bit but not quite to that extent biggrin

What's the power and torque outputs?

I'm waiting for new buckets to arrive myself and once I have those in, the plan is to stop modding at that point (if I can!). They are just great fun and not a fortune to run, setting aside the cost of the mods....

Enjoy it!

Mine has 233 bhp & similar mods without going quite so extreme & it easily handles track driving but use DS1.11 not DS2500.

You will need callipers, discs & calliper carriers from the later car.

And new brake hoses as the R56 calipers have different fitment.

I had heard that but then mine arrived and had the same fittings as the original ones.

Thanks for the kind comments guys, yes it is an absolute giggle for sure.

I dropped it down to Sussex Road and Racing today to go right through it so I know its in good health for the Spring

Jobs on the list are to fit the matching passenger seat and harness

Fit checker plate to passenger side foot well

Fit hand held extinguisher

Going for a BIG brake set up, cant remember the name but its a 6 pot and lots of competitors are using it to race. Not Alcon or AP as they were about 2.5k for the kit alone. I will report back when I have the details. The brake upgrade will also necessitate new wheel studs and some spacers

Full silicone hose kit under the bonnet

And the obligatory oil service,

Cant wait to get it back and missing it already cry

I was told today by Sussex Road and Race today that its 230bhp,not sure of the torque number. Luckily I bought it this way and haven't had to fork out the near 25K that it cost the last owner (inc buying the car and a donor car) to get it to this point

Im just it for one seat, silicone hose kit and the brake upgrade so not too bad biggrin

I'll post pictures when its back with all the work done!
