Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm new to Minis and I was looking to get my first one, but I have just discovered the problems so many owners are having with the timing chains, death rattle etc. and it has got me really worried.

I am looking at either a Mini Clubman Cooper Petrol 2012, 65k miles or a Mini Clubman One Diesel 2014, 48k miles. Both have two previous owners and Full Mini service histories.

Are these likely to suffer from the issues? And if so, would be it advisable to get the chain replaced as soon as I bought one?

Any help would be great.

So changing the timing belt is a permanent fix for a potential problem?

no, but it is a consumable part, currently doing mine, & I will do it again in 40k if I still have it.

The two models mentioned do not have timing chain issues as a common fault. The issue affects the Mini Cooper S engines, so I wouldn't worry too much about the two cars you are looking at...

Hope this helps.....
