Hi

My last family car was a 2003 MB and the headlights etc would come on when you opened the car and then stay on for about 30 secs after you locked up.

I recently acquired a 68 reg (2019 model) Clubman Cooper S and I tried to set up the same feature. The only setting I could find required flashing the headlights when the car is switched off and the lights will stay on for 30 secs. I couldn't find any feature to set the lights to come on when you open the car.

The car has the automatic headlights which I think are now standard.

Any advice on how to set up this feature would be much appreciated!

Thanks, I did this but you have to flash the lights when engine off to get them to stay on for 20 secs. Doesn't seem to be any setting to get them to come on automatically when opening the car.

Not sure if I have missed something or if the mini just does not have this feature?

Have you got the auto lights set to auto? When I unlock my 2018 Cooper S the lights come on and blind me!

The car does not have an auto headlight setting as such, the headlight switch is just left effectively in the Off position and the lights operate automatically. It is a 68 reg and 2019MY.

Out of interest, I will check if you put the light switch to lights permanently on and see if it works then, not practical for every day though as would have main headlights on permanently.

It would seem that to get the lights to come on when unlocking on the latest mini, you have to leave them set on main beam (automatic lights are now standard and for these you leave the switch in the Off position, there is not setting as such for Automatic).

To get them to stay on after you switch off the ignition, you have to flash the headlights, they will then stay on for 20 seconds. There is no setting that just keeps them on after you lock the car.

Seems a bit odd as lights on when unlocking and staying on after locking seem pretty standard on most other cars these days.
