Hi, looking for a bit of help and information from other mini drivers. I have a mini cooper D 2015 model that has an amber engine management light on. Garage say it needs de coking and there is nothing wrong with the engine cooler valve. It has 28000 miles on the clock. Has anyone else had the same problem at such a low mileage and in my opinion a young age? Cost is very expensive to decoke (£1300), I have only owned it for 2 1/2 yrs and done 14k in that time. Car is not knocking and appears fine to drive. Thanks

F56 or R56 ? The earlier R56 1.6psa engines had issues but I didn’t think coking up was an issue with the newer ones. Unless the issue is the dpf and on your mileage it could be .....

Thanks for the reply, its an F56 i think - it has a centre LED colour changing rim around a sat nav and a idrive controller near the handbrake? DPF - diesel particulate filter ? am I right in thinking that if i replace the filter the car may not need decoking? the engine light could be reset? and I could sell? thanks

Sounds like you have the F56, if the EML is on (engine management light) then it should leave a fault code, have they said what the fault code is ?

DPFs are expensive and don't usually fail, yes they block but that's usually as a result of a fault. I assume its been serviced on time and with the correct oil ?

Decoking doesn't make sense to me, its to new to suffer from coking. Whereabouts in the country are you ?
