Owners club / forums to buy from?
Discussion
I’m considering a GP (preferably a 2, but would also be keen on a nice 1) however they seem to be like hens teeth here in the North East of Scotland!
Are there any good places or clubs to look for cherished examples? There seem to be quite a few at small time dealers and I’m apprehensive to travel to/buy from places like that as I’ve often found rougher examples of these rarer cars end up in those networks.
As an aside, how are these in poorer weather? I cycle to work so my annual mileage is very low but I would like the option to drive if conditions are not great for the bike. My other options are a much newer Golf R or GTi, but I imagine they might be a bit too mature a drive for me.
I’m currently car-less so ready to move immediately... I’ve lasted a month without a car, a personal best!

There is the GP Owners' Club, which does still have a forum, but is mainly on Facebook these days. They also have a public facing buying and selling page, which usually has a few for sale.
You will likely need to travel to get what you want (I did!) as they are like hen's teeth everywhere. In four years I've only seen one other GP2 on the road in normal driving, as opposed to shows and events.
I used mine as a daily driver for the first two years, and it's been back in service lately due to long hours and poor weather. The main limitation in wet weather on the GP2 is the OEM Kumho tyres, which are track focussed and semi slick. I'm now on my second set of Michelin PS4 instead which work brilliantly as an all weather road tyre.
The lack of rear wash wipe I find isn't really an issue despite the tendency of MINI rear ends to get very dirty in bad weather. I just carry a bottle of water and microfibres to wipe down whenever I stop.
Good luck, and hope you find what you want. They are excellent fun, and getting mine was the best car buying decision I've made.
