We have a mini one 66 plate that has just run out of warranty and the main central display/visual boost radio keeps powering on and off every 15 or 20 seconds. Display and functions appear to work when booted, but can only use for a few seconds before powering off again. Car has been on a battery conditioner and even when fully charged it still happens. Anyone else had this or have any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

Very common problem on these systems, I have the same in my Cooper s and just waiting for it to go wrong. Used to have to replace the whole system but fortunately I think Mini/BMW can sort it with a software update.

Thanks for the reply, lets hope a software update will do the trick.
Strange it started happening just after its 3 year service, had to have work on a fuel sensor problem, I wonder if they had to disconnect any electrics or did an update that started this happening.

I have a similar problem with my unit. Have you had success with the software update? Did BMW/ Mini charge you bundles for doing it?

Hi, did you manage to sort this, my girlfriend is having a similar issue with her mini. Can we apply the software uptake without taking it in to mini? (By trying to look through settings etc)

I’m bumping am ancient thread to see whether there’s any more knowledge on this. My sister-in-law has a similar issue on a 2016 Mini. Can it be fixed at home or is it a dealer job please?

Edited to add that I think the display is permanently off rather than cycling.
