Finally all settled in, now getting the Wife's run-around i picked up a few months ago sorted out.

Currently has some dodgy Chinese ditchfinders that are very noisy and like skating around the lanes when damp, so, what tires are recommended?

Its running the 17" Cooper S (i think they were) wheels like these.

I have the same wheels on my cooper s and went for michelin ps4`s. Came in at about £100 each. The difference in ride quality & grip is amazing.

No noise which I have noticed to be honest, car feels nice quiet enough, even though im running hard suspension. They replaced some dunlop run flats which were horrendous! Im running mps4s on my other car and they lasted over 25,000 miles so im hoping these mp4`s last a good while also.

Federal SuperSteel 595 RSR would be my go to choice and at around £70/corner not too hard on the wallet

Actually ended up with some Avon's because the nasty old right rear gave up the fight on me and i had no option but to head for teh nearest tire shop.

They are absolute light years ahead of the things that were on there before (which the tire shop told me were actually budget chinese run flats that cost 60 a corner .... yikes ) Anyway, one set of standard Avons and it's sticking to the road like you know what to a blanket, and lovely and quiet at speed too.

The Mrs can just call the AA man if she gets a puncture !

Thats expensive! I actually found some for £30 each when I was looking. Dread to think what they would be like.

Going by the fact that i couldn't hear the radio at anything over 50mph on these nasty things, and the first drive i had on them on a cold damp road (went from 20c warm summer to 2 months later 8c and autumnal damp) was like driving on oil, your 30 quid finds must have been outright lethal !!

It amazes me that these things are even allowed to be sold TBH,

Anyway, all sticky, grippy and quiet now! Avon's wouldn't have been my first choice, but sometimes needs must!
