Slight change of username, phone won't accept my usual password. Had to reregister.
Well we've been to see our first Cooper Convertible this afternoon and my wife loved it. 16 plate, 23k miles, £11690. Turquoise metallic.
Basic ish Cooper, rear view camera, 15"wheels, no chilli or pepper pack.
Concerns:
One odd front tyre, same wheel badly kerbed. Rear disc scored
Quite a lot of scratches mostly fine but a few that won't buff out.
Small stain on rear seat.
Negotiated price down a little but the scratches on the paintwork are the things that niggle me and can't be cheaply rectified.
Any thoughts from owners?
Thanks in advance.
Tony

Minis are hugely spec dependent, and there’s loads to choose from.
Wait for the right car to come along as you’re into the ideal time to buy a bargain convertible.

If it niggles you now look elsewhere.

Cooper, with a great spec inc the rare heated screen, it has the LED's too and its mini approved which means it will be very tidy, have the correct star rated tyres on and its £500 more than the one you looked at. You will find the good ones sell very quick

Thanks for that and the link too.
It's in Norfolk and we are a good way north of there.
Going to call them and discuss. There's another a bit closer that a friend is going to view for us.
A lovely sounding one nearby for sale privately at more than a thousand cheaper but in cream which she likes but not as much as blue....
Happy to buy private rather than dealer but guess it's got to be the right colour..

The one at Norwich linked to above is ideal having spoke to them this morning except for the Union Jack on the roof which seems a deal breaker for my wife. Factory option apparently.

The UJ on the roof doesn't stand out as much as a colour one would, Its a shame if thats a deal breaker as its a great spec for a Cooper.

I know but it's her choice. TBH I think I'd get tired of it after a while too.

Mini trade on being british, don't forget the rear lights on the LCi are of the union jack variety, as are the rear of the headrests

Update and firstly, a big thanks to all who offered advice and suggestions especially Stevemcs who provided some useful information and recommended the better seats and LED headlights

My wife loves the new car she collected yesterday (left home 6.10am returned after a 475 mile round trip to The Silverlink, Wallsend, about 7.30pm).
She says the seats are great (which was a concern of mine) having done 245 miles back on her first drive, including dual carriageway, country roads and the worst traffic queues we've seen on the A720 Edinburgh Bypass.

First comment " those LED lights are great".

Needs a clean now, what do everyone use for the soft top? I just use the usual car shampoo on my soft roofs. And do you need to reproof the roof every once in a while?

I’m glad she likes it, the leds are fantastic and will be needed in your part of the world, the seats offer so much more support too

For the roof I just hose ours down and use a microfibre wash mitt don’t use a lambs wool mitt as they leave bits all over

Occasionally I’ll hoover ours but when it’s dirty I wet it, pre spray with an apc (all purpose cleaner) I use g101 or meguires apc, agitate with a suede brush and then rinse with an open ended hose.

Then I use a wet and dry hoover to extract the water with apc in the water tank

Allow it to dry, you can then use fabsil for waterproofing tents or I use gtechniq i1 protector

If it hasn't got one get the wind deflector, if you do need to buy one get the genuine one, the aftermarket ones don't fold and won't fit in the boot.

There's a bag in the boot with one, haven't opened it yet to confirm..
Her Mum & Dad are here this week and she hasn't spent much time with them. They're off on Sunday, so play time begins then, (after I've watched the MotoGP, Mot2 & most importantly, Moto3)

Before moving it, I thought I'd check the oil and water levels etc

No dip stick?
Water top up passenger side? Does the top just unscrew?

Have managed to change the time and fathom out the miles left in the tank things

Eee, cars have come a long way since I started driving. (1970)

(My current fleet are 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997.)

Press the menu button, into vehicle information, scroll to check oil level - there are two, ones confirms its ok, the other measures it. It needs to be warm and on level ground before it will measure it.

Oh and rear pads don't last long, we got 11k out of our first set.
