hi guys

I have been contemplating getting a clubman lease for a while now but the pricing i keep getting is a bit silly so either I wait it out for a better price eventually or I was thinking i might just buy a used one 2016-2018 plate.

Obviously getting a new one as a lease means a full warranty, no unknown issues, etc but really ugly new tail lights (union jack sort of) and a really ugly mesh looking front bumper. The new packages also come with LEDs as standard and obviously the dual clutch transmission on the sport autos.

Buying a used 2016-2018 plate would come with the nicer tail lights and nicer front bumpers but potentially a host of unknown issues, the old auto transmission and possibly more limited options.

Question I need answered is, have any of you driven the new clubman with the new dual clutch and driven the pre-DCT clutch clubman and are able to confirm to me if there is any noticeable difference in performance? I am planning on getting a clubman with paddle shifters. Are there any other things i should be aware of in the 2016-2018 models that might cause me issues that i can avoid by getting a lease on a 19 plate instead?

Thank you

I drove a new 2019 clubman auto when my 2018 was in getting some plastic trim replaced. I had it for a few days and didn't notice any difference. The £10k saving on list with the 1.9% apr made buying a nearly new one a no brainer.

A Clubman thats a few years old will still be in the standard warranty period (3 years) so as long as you don't go too old you'll be fine. I recently bought a well-spec'd 2017 Clubman SD. Slightly higher mileage than I'd have wanted (40k) but was in excellent condition with a full Mini service history. Paid £14k for it which worked out better for me than a PCP/balloon.
