Drive chain fault warning 2015 cooper s
Discussion
Hi All,
New to MINI this time round and my wife's mini has come up with the warning as per picture. Does anyone know what this is? The car goes lumpy and in to limp mode. Same happend a week ago and green flag couldn't diagnose the cause because the fault had cleared and they said it would have been a soft warning code which do not store and can clear themselves.

As you say the fault code has appeared, now you need to take it in to somewhere with dealer level diagnostic equipment rather than generic gear & they will tell you what it is, simples.
Oh, it says drive train by the way not drive chain.
Thats not always the case, our local dealer said they could never find a code for the adaptive headlight warning my Mini throws occasionally, but snap on willl - not that i've fixed it. Most aftermarket diagnostics will give a code albeit a generic one sometimes.Oh, it says drive train by the way not drive chain.
Hello
I wonder if it is an ABS sensor or ABS reluctor ring fault hence the generic drivetrain fault message.
I've had similar on my Smart Roadster whereby a faulty split reluctor ring generated an engine misfire ( is this the lumpiness you feel from the engine?)which subsequently put the car into limp mode.
New reluctor ring and ABS sensor was the cure.
Worth a thought.

We had a similar fault popup on our F57 Cooper S convertible.
Turns out one of the vanos valves had decided to fall apart. Was about £500 at an independent to diagnose / fix. Vanos solenoids were changed first - that didn’t solve it, they then removed the valve cover as they thought it may have skipped time - fortunately it hadn’t.
