Would this be the one you were assuring me last week was well sorted?
A/C stuff is complex. Could be a regas, could be a major overhaul. Might have a leak, might have a duff compressor. You can do visual checks, like seeing whether the clutch engages when the button is pressed. You could take it somewhere like Kwik Fit who will regas it for £60 & if the temp doesn't come down 10% then there's no charge.
Air con systems aren't simple. On Minis, there are all sorts of checks the ECU performs when you press the button & if one element of the system is not working such as the temperature sensor or the low speed fan, then it won't switch on. If it were mine, I'd be checking fuses, the clutch, electrical connectors like the fan & after that, recognising it's specialist work & ringing round for a few quotes from guys who know what they're doing & who will tell you the cost depends on what they find.

The A/C worked OK on test drive and we hadn’t used it since, now it is not working. I have looked through the service records but cannot find any history on the A/C service or regas. Hope just regas, thanks for posting, I will check the obvious stuff before taking it to specialist.
It is recommended that A/C is used for at least a few minutes a week to keep the gas circulating which lubricates the seals, if the seals don't get lubricated, they will dry out and leak. A lot of people don't realise that you can use it to heat too, it will help dry you out after those cold wet winter walks.
