My alarm has a mind of it's own!

My 07 MCS (R56) has decided that its latest wheeze should be to randomly alarm (as in the im being stolen alarm, not the seatbelt bong) for no reason even when the car is unlocked, the engine is running and someone is sat in the drivers seat!
This can be cured by turning the engine off, getting out the car, locking it and then commencing the entry procedure over again.
It also likes to go off in the middle of the night in the densely populated residential area in which I live.
My solution to this, so far, has just been to leave the thing unlocked as then the alarm is never 'armed'. I may continue to use this solution.
Does anyone know if there's a way to just disable the alarm permanently? Is there a fuse I can pull?
