Hi
I have just changed from a 2008 R56 JCW with a N14 engine to 2018 R56 JCW with a N18 engine and they feel quite different and I wondered if anyone has a picture of the torque and power curves for both engines.
Both are standard cars.
I can find images of curves for modified cars but not standard

Thanks
Danny

Do you feel that the N18 pulls harder? I was shocked by how rattly and diesel-like they sound compared to the N14

Isn't the 2018 a F56 model which will have some variant of the 2litre engine which is different to the 1.6 R56. Think the 2 litre has more torque as standard but can't help with torque/power curves.

I think it’s the other way around. My N14 felt torquier where as my N18 feels as though it revs freeer. Neither sounds particularly nice at idle

They seem to deliver the same performance but in a different way, hence my question on torque and power curve

That would be right if it's a 2018 F56, rather than an earlier R56. The OP would have a gen 3 with the 2 litre rather than a gen 2 with a 1.6 (N14 or N18).

Mine is a 2011 JCW with an N14. My Mum has a 2011 Cooper S with the N18. I know the N18 is supposed to be the stronger / more reliable engine with less problems but to my ear it sounds a lot worse and I acttually am not jealous at all. Let's hope it holds together with stage 2 tune smile

This is from a 2011 JCW with the standard map. Only mod was Akrapovic downpipe.
