Mini Cooper s R56 DV problems?

Hiya all,
I recently got an r56 and just wondering if the Stock DV should make a noise or not? when I bought the car it made a "psshhh" noise which I thought was normal (don't know if it is or not) and after a few days of driving while in boost my intake and noisemaker pipes popped off and ever since then there hasn't been any "psshhh" noises, so I took the DV off and the plastic rim that holds the yellow rubber part on was cracked and chipped. so I've replaced the DV with a new one and I've even used the GFB DV+ kit and replaced the rubbish plastic bits that break but it still doesn't make a noise? Was the "psshhh" noise just down to the dodgy stock DV?
p.s. everything else is stock on the car
