Bought my Coop SD a couple of months back, 2013 model.

At the moment, no service items are due until next year.

Car came with a full main dealer history (but not the book, that has been lost!), but a absolute wad of all the receipts and the like. I took a trip to my local dealer who did a print out from the key fob to check that all the servicing married up before I bought it, and it did. Happy days!

Given the car is 7 years old, if I keep it for 2/3, I don't see the point in keeping the future work main dealer. I've got a great indy down the road from me, and I'm more than happy to use them.

Obviously, with the Mini services, it's just bits as and when. I was thinking ahead to next year, in the view of getting my local to perform a general service on the car.

If this is carried out, can I change the dates of the service intervals for all items if needs be? Or do I need a specialist diagnostic tool? I changed the MOT date myself - are the service dates as simple as that?

I was just wondering how other owners get on with their sevice items once out of the dealer network.

Thoughts?

Yes, this is possible - see this thread. It's a bit of a fiddle like rubbing your belly and patting your head (that's not the actual procedure, but it is close) :-

It's possible to use a diagnostic tool to do this as well and that's how my mechanic did it when he upgraded my brakes (plugged into the OBDI port, selected the make, model, year and item to be reset).
