Splashed out on a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4's for my '63 plate Cooper SD.

Massive improvement - ride, noise, and just handles a million times better.

However, the fitted filled them up to 33 psi. Before, I was running the car on the same level as suggested in the door sticker (think it's 2.6 bar, 37 psi).

Obviously, that's based on the runflats it was originally supplied with.

What's the consensus on this? Hard to find a definitive answer. I've read that running on 33 psi will simply wear the outer edge quickly - is there a happy medium between regular wear, but not losing the handling?

Not sure if this helps but I've been running 215/45/17 Pilot Super Sports as my summer tyres on my Mini Clubvan, according to the door sticker for that tyre size they should be 2.4 bar I've been running them at 34 psi which is slightly under with no problems whatsoever.

Thanks....it does help!

33 does seem low.....so maybe 34 is a happy medium?

Although I haven't done a mega amount of miles on the Pilots I can't see any unusual wear.
For what it's worth I've taken off a set of Sotozero's winter tyres which I ran at the same pressure and did a careful check and couldn't find any scrubbing or unusual wear.

Run them at the pressures on the door, run-flat or not, the pressures should be the same.

Just changed the all to the official figures, 2.6 bar all round.

After much research, thought this was the best option.

Not using it for a few days, but It'll be interesting to see how it rides with spec pressure, but a new set of quality tyres.

I've been running 37 PSI all round on Michelin Pilot Super Sports for at least five years now and all fine with no uneven wear (R58 JCW, standard 17s). Getting on for my third set of fronts now - the Michelins really are very good compared to the previus run flat Contis.
