Thinking of upgradng my R56 to a F56 cooper S.Just wondering if anyone done this who could give a direct comparison between the cars ride. Obviously will depend on wheel size/tyres so details of what these were on each car would be appreciated.

Could go for a car with EDC but this restricts the number of cars available and less easy to find the spec. I'm looking for. Seen a few cars that would interest me but none of them has damper control but if ride of F56 a significant improvement on R56 maybe could live with the F56 on standard suspension. Without EDC would be looking at max rim size of 17"

Current R56 on non runflats - got both 16" and 17" wheels and 16" certainly give an improved ride just don't look as good

I've not driven the R56 but I've got a F56 Cooper S on 17" wheels without run flats without EDC and I find the ride to be very composed on back roads and very confidence inspiring. The ride feels a tad harsh when driving in town but overall I'm happy with it.

I've got a R55 S on TD 1.2's with non runflats, the wife has an F57 with EDC on 17's again non runflats. In comfort the F57 is fine, in sports its a bit jiggly. The steering is the biggest issue, the R55 steers and feels so much better. The F series is more BMW than Mini.

The R55 was better than the R56 though, the slightly longer wheel base helps the car feel less bumpy.

I have an F56 on run flats with EDC. Ride is night and day better than my wife’s previous R56 on runnflats. Don’t know how much is to do with EDC though.

Been for a test drive in a F56 3 door hatch on non runflats and ride quality is greatly improved (F56 a big step up from R56 in all area). As a result decide to look for a F56 Cooper S in spec I wanted- collecting it today 7 speed DCT auto in lapis blue.
Had just replaced front tyre on R56 with Michelin PS4 which are a big improvement on Toyo tyre that can had on front when I bought it. - an way may help to sell the car.

Hi I’d be interested in your views on the dct box? Particularly if it can be a bit jerky when manoeuvring slowly like the VW groups Dsg etc.

Never had a problem before but cant get photos to load as greater than 2mb not sure how to reduce on phone..

Re DCT only driven it less than 70 miles so too early to comment on. Note its super smooth in normal driving and cant feel gear changes(not tried paddles yet). Will post once got experience of what its like.

First quick impression is that the ride is a massive step up from R56, new F56 is on 17" Pirelli P7 runflats, the car as minimal "bobble" when driving on normal roads and most potholes etc aren't felt in the car. Comfort almost seems limousine like with the Sports lounge leather seats- willl report back once I've had to drive on local roads and may need to remove rose coloured glasses!!!

Great car and great colour!

They tune very well. Even a good tuning box - Racechip for example - will take it to close to 250BHP.

Pic of my Lapis Luxury blue Cooper S Seven for posterity. I miss it greatly.
