Hi,

Hard to describe this, there are similar questions all over the American sites, under hard acceleration, I'm only going up to 4.5k, the car produces a Catalytic converter type smell, not the eggy smell when behind a car driving hard, but a more acrid type smell, enters and exits the cabin really fast and doesn't happen when cruising at 70 or under more gentle normal acceleration.

I know I've got an oil leak out of the valve cover, I'd just be happier if the consensus was its not a slipping belt that might cause a problem.

What would a snapped belt cause apart from not running the water pump?

Thanks

In that case take it somewhere & get the leak fixed & the belt checked.

Both the r53s I’ve had have done this-I thought it might have been coolant on something very hot,but my current one doesn’t loose any water whatsoever....
No idea what the smell is!
