First time poster in the section, spent the last couple of evenings reading pretty much every jcw thread on here.

I am looking at a 2012 3 door jcw from a main dealer, has had the timing chains replaced within the last 12 months under BMW warranty goodwill. It has had front pads and discs, brake fluid service and engine oil, filter and plugs changed as part of the pre sale service.

Just under 60k but still on its original clutch, car felt good on an extended test drive. Is there any particular areas to look out for. Also as this will be a second/weekend car how are they if left sitting up for periods of time.

Finally, as occasional back road and some track work cars how do they fare?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated smile

I owned one for a few years and loved it. Perfect on UK B roads and I much preferred it to the RS4 I had as well at the same time. Not that fast in a straight line by today’s standards but don’t let that bother you. I tracked my a few times and it was ace. I later fitted Ohlins R&T and some sticky rubber and the car was transformed. Here is some footage from a few years ago. REally miss that car. I wish I had kept it.
