Southern GP Meet and Drive - Sunday 28th April

I think there's enough interest to go ahead with this, so here goes ...

Likely format will be an early morning meet up near Winchester or Petersfield, 2 to 3 hours driving on some of the great roads of Hampshire and West Sussex, and a photo stop or two. I'd like to get us in to the grounds of Goodwood Motor Circuit for some pics around the site, but that will depend on what else is on at the circuit on the day.

I've chosen Sunday 28th April, and the Goodwood diary is currently clear for that day. It's also Drive It Day, so we may well see plenty of other interesting cars out and about.

It will be open to both GP1s and GP2s, and would be nice to get a good few of each. Note it will be for GPs only, I organise plenty of other more general MINI runs on similar roads ... wink

I'm hoping a friend who is a rather good photographer might be able to attend, and bring his drone (not at Goodwood though).

So if you're interested, let me know, and I'll keep you up to date with the plans.

I'm interested. I still haven't seen another GP on the road so it could be my only chance hehe

Thanks for all the interest so far. Think this has the potential to be rather good, and have a fair few from the GP Owners Club interested as well.

364 miles done on Sunday, just for fun. Made the most of the weather, and Fish Hill was visited again. biggrin

Sorry for being quiet on this; have had rather a lot of other stuff to deal with.

It's still on for Sunday 28th April, and have maybe ten or so from the GP Owners' Club interested as well as a few from PH.

Right, the route is planned, and mostly tried and tested (I'll be doing the rest on Sunday).

Around 107 miles and three hours of the best roads and hills that Hampshire and West Sussex have to offer, ending up at Goodwood Motor Circuit.

The start point will be near Petersfield, and I'd like to leave there at 7am, before the roads get busy. Before I confirm, let me know if this suits, and I'll PM the final details to those interested.

Sorry about hijacking the thread but I'm after some info about the gear change in a GP2. I'm looking at one in the NW which has done just over 30K but the gear shift feels loose/sloppy particularly 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 2nd. I had a R56 JCW 4 years ago and cant remember if that was the same.

Really sorry everyone, but I'm going to have to postpone this to a later date.

Partly for personal reasons, but mainly due to the state of the roads. Been out driving some of them this morning, and to my dismay West Sussex County Council have been surface dressing swathes of the route with loose chippings. Not fun, and I'd rather wait til we can drive the roads properly and not get our GPs peppered with stone chips.

Once again, sorry! Will try and find a suitable date in the next month or two.

That’s a huge shame but absolutely the right call - had a similar thing on an early morning hoon a few years ago - it wasn’t the hooners (who crawled along to avoid chips and tar-spots), but the numpties in the opposite direction who were zipping along sending stones flying everywhere.
