Hey guys, recently my exhaust pipe seems to have detached itself from where it should enter the first muffler on the offside of the car.

I'm looking at possible a solutions, one which involves having my local garage try and weld it back on but because the area where it's separated is pretty corroded I'm not holding out much hope.

The car is a 2006 Cooper S R52 convertible automatic.

From looking around it seems there are differences between the R53 and R52 exhausts due to some additional bracing at the rear of the car on the R52, and also some differences between the manual and automatic versions of the car.

There are a lot of cheaper aftermarket replacements for a manual R53 and R52 exhaust, but I'm not really finding anything for the automatic versions.

I looked at just doing the 'one ball' mod but I think that's different for automatic cars also...

Does anyone know what the differences between the systems actually are? Is it major or something that might just need a bit of tweaking to fit.

Dave.

Convertible exhausts have a slightly flattened bit of pipe where it passes over the bracing - something you can modify on a normal exhaust yourself. Not sure of any difference between auto and manual tho

I'd try the one ball route if the last box is in a decent condition, will maybe give you a year or 2 more and only slightly noiser smile

As Elliot says - no difference for auto v manual. And yes, the flattened bit to pass the bracing on a convertible.
