Mini suspension - changes by year

Hi folks. Looking for a mini Copper S convertible for wifey. She has had 2 before an early one and an 11 plate. When we had the 11 plate I seem to recall that we had a few test drives and around that model year the suspension became more more settled and less "crashy"

Does this sound right or have I imagined it?

More likely to be run flat vs non runflat tyres

That was one of my thoughts along with sports suspension.
