Mini sidewalk query

Hi all

Been ages since I posted, got a question that BMW cant seem to give a straight answer to:

My wife has a 2008 cooper sidewalk convertible.

Just need to clarify if its an R52. BMW seemed to think its an R56 but I know that cant be the case.

Pain in the neck ordering parts!

If it's a 2008 convertible then it should be an R52/R57 depending when it was built.

All 1st Gen cabrios are R52.

R57 is the 2nd Gen which launched March 2009.

Are the headlights fixed to the bonnet or to the main structure of the car?

Bonnet mounted lights = R52

Use RealOEM to find the part you need, then just quote them the part number. Saves a lot of hassle usually.

What parts are you ordering?

If you are on facebook - join the R53 Owners Club (this is the model designation of the Cooper S but is the same as the R52 like yours). Fantastic group which is very helpful. A lot of Minigurus on there who are always happy to help. Most likely can source all the required parts for an awful lot less than BMW who don't even know that only 'Sidewalk' Mini was an R52.
