Mini F56 brake pad wear
Discussion
My wife has a 65 plate Cooper with 27k on the clock. At 14k miles the rear brake pads were declared warn by the on board computer. I had them replaced and questioned the wear rate. I was told the new pads would last longer. At 25k the front pads were also flagged up. When dropping in the car I was told usually the discs need replacing when the front pads are warn. I questioned this and no more was said and the discs were left alone. Now at 28k the rear pads apparently need replacing again. I’ve checked them and the pads have lots of meat on them, around 6mm. This is clearly a scam as the computer looks to be set to 14k miles from the rears and around 25 for the fronts.
The car is due it’s 2nd service in 1000 miles plus it’s MOT. What’s the betting that the brakes pads pass the MOT without even an advisory.
What can I do as the ‘drive carefully check braking system ‘ warning is annoying?

Had something similar earlier in the year on the wife's Cooper SD, the consensus seems to be that they eat brake pads...

Pardon me if this sounds condescending, it isn't meant to.
This is exactly why I do everything myself & do it regularly.
I have a good check round e full car every 6 months or so & may well swap pads or wheels round & other things that I think will help.
Whereas main dealers seem to just read what the computer says needs doing & not bother actually looking at the car beforehand or doifg any preventative maintenance.
Luckily I have the wherewithal, time & tools to do this, not everyone has.

38k miles F56 JCW manual, lots of cruise control on the motorway, still on original pads all round and its reasonably well driven (when not on the motorway!!!).
No lights on yet but just had a letter from the dealer asking me to bring it in for a check! I've checked and there is still plenty left until its next service in a couple of months time.
