Hi all

I have a 2008 R56 Cooper. It was last serviced at 93k miles in April 2017. Currently its on 107k. The service indicator says the next service is not due for 11k miles or Apr 2019. Surely that cannot be right?

I realise that these have condition based serving, but a service interval of 25k miles does not feel right at all!

Thanks in advance

That is correct if you go by MINI/BMW. I agree with you, it seems too long.

I change the oil in my 2010 Cooper S every 7/8k in between the scheduled 2yrs/25k.

Same goes for my F60. Had it a year and covered 5,000 miles. Expected to have an annual service but the car says no and so does the dealer. I know oils have improved a lot over the years but it makes me a bit nervous that the car knows better.

I wouldn't leave the oil that long on an engine with known issues. In America they officially reduced oil change intervals.

Cheers chaps, confirming what I thought. I’ll do an interim oil change
