Mini Cooper S R53 Servicing Questions
Discussion
Hi All,
I recently bought what looks to be (touch wood) a great Mini Coopers S on an 05 plate. The car came with full service history, until 2013...
In relation to this I have two questions:
1) Missing History: Can this be retrieved online (assuming it was carried out)? I hear BMWs now have online service history and my cars last 5 year servicing might be located on a server
2) Inspection 2 Service in London: Regardless of the history, I think it's good to get this serviced. I'd like the 'Inspection 2', but I was wondering where in London (preferably SE London) to get this done for a reasonable price?
For the Service, websites such as ServiceStop and whocanfixmycar quote around £130 for a "full service", which includes all the checks plus, oil, filter change, fluid top ups etc.Am I better spending £100 more for a Mini Indie to do this?
Thanks for looking

Only the newer minis and BMW’s have the digital service history but if it’s been done at a main dealer then you can get copies of the invoices and book stamped if you find out what dealers done it. I suspect it’s probably not been kept in main dealers tho.
Definitely worth taking it to someone who knows the cars better and someone who uses good quality oil too rather than using the cheapest garage
Inspection 2 includes oil and filter, pollen filter, spark plugs and aux belt plus all the checks to be carried out - £130 can’t cover all that with decent parts and oils

Find a good, reputable idependant MINI specialist. And get done what needs doing rather than whatever it says in the Inspection 2 Service. By that I mean probably more, different, not in the schedule items, not less, skimping.
For example, items that are lifetime in MINI Schedule speak are SC oil, gearbox oil, fuel filter. Folk that know R53s get all of these done.
Where are you? I have a list of good independants.
And get yourself onto the R53 Owners Club on Facebook if you aren't already.
