My car is red with black roof and mirrors. I'd like to lose the chrome look on the belt line, grill and light surrounds front and rear. Is getting them wrapped in gloss vinyl effective and if so how much should it cost? Looking for recommendations around Sutton, Surrey. Thanks

It cost me £250 in total to do the lights/grill/beltline. The front/rear lights and front grill were genuine MINI replacements, and the beltline I got tape off eBay and I got a gloss black cover for the straight piece of chrome on the front bumper off eBay as well.

I did wonder if I could have got it done cheaper by just getting it all wrapped, I don't know what they charge for wrapping though.

As above. Probably as cheap buying replacement surrounds for the lights easy DIY to replace. The belt line we actually did on my sons car with electrical tape and it’s held up well cost all of 79p with enough to do it again smile

Belt line is really straight forward. It’s the right height to cover the complete strip and just slice off the ends with a blade.

Don’t pull the tape too torte else is narrows. Line it up cleanly to the underneath of the rubber just above the chrome strip.

Only tricky area is the corners on the front windscreen. The vinyl is usually very plyable so it’s ok to lift and reapply. Do this on the corners until you get a nice smooth take without any ripples.

Any bubbles you get when applying simply prick on the far side with the blade and work the air out towards the prick.

Also don’t worry if it’s not completely perfect on first look. Over time with heat and the sun on it, the vinyl takes and smooths out any *small* imperfections.
