Hi, Picking up a Mini approved used 2014 Cooper S next week. It has a fairly high mileage for its age (64000 miles), so I was keen to see how it’s been serviced.

Unfortunately as I always do when I view a car I get overly excited and always forget to check the important bits! So asked the sales woman to send over the service history, which is all accessed on the Key (no physical book). Can anyone make any sense of it? I just want to know when it’s been serviced, another thing that I’m slightly concerned about is as of 11/08/18 (the day I enquired about the service history) it looks as though it’s been reset to 24000 or 24 months... and there’s no way it’s been serviced between yesterday and today after me asking... maybe they’ve just reset it for a sale.

Thanks

Looking from L-R, symbols are:
Oil
Air Filter
Spark Plugs
Brake Fluid
Rear Brakes
Vehicle Check/Service
General Inspection

I would also expect to see front brakes, cabin filter & mobility system (TPMS etc) in there too (I guess that's the gap down the middle).

Colours are:
Green - "normal condition"
Amber - service due
Red - service overdue (number by how many miles)

On the face of it the gaps & the red look worrying - you've got to ask what sort of owner would ignore a red brake warning for 900 miles & red oil/check car warning for 1,300 miles?

The service light would not necessarily state the reason, just 'needs a service'.

And the owner appeared to be putting 2500 miles a month on the car around that time, so it wouldn't take long between the first 'bong' and booking a convenient service slot for the deep reds.

At a guess, the garage didn't clear the settings on 28/07/17, and the car was in again on 29/08/17 for brake fluid (also the repair on 30/08/17). It would be worth checking what/when the work was actually done around that time.
