Recently got some BMW roof bars from ebay and after removing the rubber guttering not sure if I am tightening the shoulder nuts up correctly(the instructions aren't clear to me)
Is this correct or should the flanges either side of the bolt be between the flanges on the nut

Found this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU6R9hu6qfE

but looks to me as if black flanges fit between the shoulders on the nuts (5:41)

Don't want to fit bike carrier and find bars are not secure.
Thanks

Now sorted

The above is correct fitting, the problem i had was that the shoulder bolts were cross threaded and so feel when tightening and getting correct torque just didn't work. Obviously been heavily used by hamfisted monkey( see difference in wear between old and new)
So if you buy secondhand mini roof bars check the shoulder bolts turn freely, a new set of 4 costs £16
