Hi

Looking to get a 15% Kavs pulley mod on my R53, so far I've heard a lot about GT, Lohan and 1320. I'm based in Glasgow can anyone recommend a Glasgow/Scotland based R53 tuner?

I've come accross PerformanceTek Racing has anyone used them or recommend them?

Also as a daily driver go for a 15% or 17% upgrade?

Cheers

General consensus with the standard intercooler & daily use would be to stick with 15%, otherwise your intake air temp gets higher & the engine cuts back the extra you CAN get with additional intake cooling.

I am sure others more knowledgeable/experienced than I will be along to add more details if required.

Although. to be honest some of the bolt on rather than interference fit pulleys have been known to come off & do MUCHO damage, don't know enough to know which makes, but that is the reason I went interference fit for mine.

You will also either need to buy/rent/borrow a puller to remove the original.

Go with a 15%. If you are 'just' using it on the road, and unless you are thrashing it stupid, you are unlikely to get AIT issues. Difference story if you are taking it on track. Nevertheless I've got an Airtec IC fitted, used one, not too expensive.

I have heard about the bolt-on story - slipping, coming off. I know a lot of people with the bolt-ons fitted, including myself, and never heard of it actually happening to anyone. And a number are trackers with 19%s and they thrash their cars mecilessly.

The thing with the interference fit pulleys, great though they are, is finding someone who is prepared to fit one. Most of the MINI R53 specialists I know down here in the Sarf simply refuse to even contemplate it.

Have you been in/driven an R53 with a 15%? It is a wonderful mod. Makes the car so driveable - much improved torque profile.,Aditionally to the obvious and mostly refered to power/bhp increase.
