Ive just picked up an R56 S as i needed a daily. Its had a lohen map and decat so i think its running around 230 bhp (not checked this though) Its N14 engined 09 plate

Id like to service it as i always do when i buy a car. What is the best oil for this? Was looking at castor edge but so many different recommendations online im a bit lost.

I got some Millers 5w40 CFS NT+ for our Cooper, as these engines need all the help they can get.
I think it's helped reduce the oil consumption.

Lohen recommend Millers 10W50 for cars running a Stage 2 tune - yours is there or thereabouts on bhp. I'm running with slightly more power than the 230 of the OPs car & use a 10W50 (Morris Oils), though mines not a daily driver. I also change my oil annually, even though I only do about 4K miles. If necessary, ask the Opie Oils guy on the PH forum.

Whatever you go for, get a huge container, buy bulk, so you can top it up regularly. I understand that is one of the joys of R56 N14 ownership.

Best advice I can offer is use what MIni recommends.
