We have an F56 Cooper with Chili pack and the Visual Boost radio, there's no Media XL, enhanced Bluetooth, or Navigation of any kind. There is however a USB socket into which I've plugged a FAT32 formatted USB stick containing 30 or so mp3 files. I thought that I'd be able to play these files by selecting the Aux input on the media selection but all I get is the message "No Track Information Available" giving me the impression that the car doesn't know there are any mp3 files there. If I connect my iPhone to the USB port it plays music through the car just fine. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the case that the car with the options I described is not capable of playing mp3 files from a USB stick?

Thanks, DM.

I suspect in the end you have answered your own question, I don't think it is designed as a port for "dumb media" but for active media as in your phone/mp3 player.

Thanks all. It works now!

I think that yesterday I'd just copied the mp3 files into album folders on the USB stick which was then not recognised by the USB interface in the car so I mistakenly decided that it must be an AUX device. Having then left the car looking for an AUX device I inserted a USB containing just mp3 files and of course as the car was expecting an AUX device it was not trying to read the USB stick. When I gave up trying, and posted here, I'd returned the car to DAB radio.

Today I went to the car, turned on the radio, and plugged in the USB - then I clicked on media source and was surprised to find that the USB port had recognised the USB stick and contents, so now I can play music from the USB stick, happy days!

Of course this only goes to demonstrate that you shouldn't try to mix old people and technology!

Thanks for assuring me that it could be done thumbup

You can copy it to the head unit too so you don't need the stick

I don't think we can do that as we do not have the Media XL pack, just the basic Visual Boost.

Oh, and it also turns out that one of the USB sticks I was using is not compatible with the car so that too added to my confusion.

Given its now a £2,000 option (Navigation Plus) on the LCI Mini, if i were to say "Play Led Zeppelin", i'd be expecting the band to play personally. hehe
