Hi all,

My Mrs has had her 15 plate Cooper convertible for a few years now and it's never been great on fuel and due to an increased commute we popped into Mini to look at changing it for a diesel.

We've ended up with a 5 door black Cooper SD auto with XL Media, nice perforated black leather and alcantara seats and a JCW pack on it for 30 quid a month less than she was paying for her old car. It's used, but still a year newer than her previous one and has nice low miles on it.

Took it for at decent test drive and it certainly goes well and is a really nice drive.

Any tips or suggestions from owners would be great as I'm not too clued up on Minis and the Mrs only got it as she liked the colour and liked the shiny wheels laugh

Love MINI Diesels the F series models are great arnt they.
Until I jumped into one I didn't understand the fuss but really enjoy mine.

The connected XL is amazing too especially with heads up display but I still haven't learnt all that it does yet!

These cars are beautiful on the motorway. Have you done any long journeys yet?

All I want to change on mine is the wing mirror covers not sure if to go from Gold jacks to grey and black checkered or just plain red

Enjoy yours!

We're picking it up tomorrow, as far as I'm aware it doesnt have the heads up display though.

Looking forward to having a car that means we can leave my car at home for long journeys/weekends away.

As a new fellow MINI owner i cant think of any specific hints or tips that i can share just yet, i'd probably over-service it (say every 10,000 miles) and ensure it gets regular long runs.

Sounds like a great spec - post pics when you get it smile

Here we go....

Picked up this morning, annoyingly her old steering lock doesnt fit the JCW wheel which is a ball ache as she'll have to find one that does. I have a disklok for my Focus ST but its far too much of a faff for the Mrs.

Oh loving that - looks really great. Had i not went for a Seven edition, i'd have went for black, black roof and those wheels on a Cooper S.

Really looks the part.

But of an update on the car, all going well apart from a couple of minor niggles. Noticed a speaker in one of he rear doors was missing a trim ring and there was some remains of an old roof sticker around the base of the aerial. Mini sorted these out without question but as I was following the OH down to the dealer to get it fixed I noticed the car had two different back lights!

Left hand side looks correct but the right hand side looks to be off a Mini One so although the same shape it's completely different. Mini are unaware of how it happened, we can only presume the previous owner cracked one and saved a few pennies before handing it back. They had no record of he car ever having the light replaced.

Anyway it's all good, I'm currently sat drinking at coffee whilst they change it over. Hopefully no more trips back to Mini from now on.

The cars going great, she likes it and I love it. I've even stolen it a few times and left her with the keys to my Focus ST smile

I like mine it’s a shame they are not making any more hatches with that engine.

I just read that, shame because I think it's a really decent motor in that car.

Agreed, and a bit surprised really. I'd have thought it would still be reasonably popular for the time being at least?

Mrs ZS bought a 3dr Cooper SD last year, but at the time we also test drove the Cooper D. Although the power in that was perfectly adequate there is a massive difference between that and the Cooper SD. Love the massive amounts of torque and still returning +55mpg smile

Visiting family over in North Wales this week so thought we'd bring the Mini, we usually come over in mine but we had plenty of room for all our clobber and the dog.

Decent economy on the twisties, couldnt make too much progress due to snow but it was a great drive over.

The car was gleaming when we left home as it had been in for its new back light and got washed, it's not looking so good now though.
