I picked up my JCW MINI 65 plate Saturday gone bought from Stratstone.....

anyway since then a couple of things have happenned

1. the main head unit (the radio sat nav screen etc) just keeps crashing and rebooting itself (showing the mini logo) Im not sure if it has something to do with a iPhone 10 being connected to it?? I took it to dealer today and they said it hasnt registered a fault so wont do anything with it!!!! Im so angry as they seemed so unhelpful and to be honest its quite a big thing not being able to use any of that as it just crashes all the time intermittently. ... has anyone else seen or heard of this and have any ideas?

2. the RDU (tyre pressure monitor) unit keeps failing and they are fixing that...... In two weeks time when they can fit me in and get a courtesy car!

kinda worried ive bought a bad car here :-(

other that that it drives a dream and sooo fast! :-)

Thanks!

eliminate the iphone by not using it and see if the crashing stops

Talk about stating the obvious?

Surely, if you think it could be that, you have disconnected it to see?

Indeed I have...... it seems to happen with any phone connected via Bluetooth or USB.

Have you tried updating the software ?

Are you using Mini connected ?

I had a similar issue with mine, deleting all devices from the car and 'forgetting' them on the iphone seemed to resolve it for a while.

Permanent fix came when the car went in for service and mini updated the software. The temperature gauge that can be selected in the screen at the bottom of the speedo went from a series of bars to one large gradient with a moving circle - if yours still has the old one I'd take it to another mini dealer and ask them to update it if Stratstone are being difficult.

I have just had the same issue on a 66 plate mini. It is going into the garage for a fix - they tell me that bmw now understand the problem (software corruption) and the latest software fixes it.

They need the car all day as they say sometimes it updates in 30mins, but sometimes it takes all day…..

Same happened in my 2015 Cooper, and the only fix for me was to take it to a dealer and pay £100 for a software update. That was a couple of years ago and all good since
