Hi,

My brain can't make a simple decision what to get Mrs Zato.

I can get a 2016 (66 reg) MK1 Countryman JCW with many options or for £3.5k more I can get a (66 reg) Cooper S MK2 countryman with every option under the sun. Mk2 is cheaper to tax, insure and MPG far better and performance almost the same.

Head says MK2, heart says MK1.

On very short test drives the MK1 seems more Mini..ish whereas the MK2 is more grown up.

Has anyone driven both and have any thoughts on what to get ?

Many thanks for any help.

We have just picked up a Cooper 2.0d and we love it. I personally think the mk1 looks better from the outside, but the mk2 has a fantastic interior. The new minis have jumped up in terms of interior quality, and kit lists.

I think for me does the JCW offer more than the CooperS.

I think if you are doing more motorway driving then the Mark 2 Countryman will be more relaxing , better build quality more refined.
I recently test drove a MK2 John Cooper Works Countryman & the build quality was excellent the ride was not too hard even on 19inch wheels . Gosh the the price though it had a lot of extras but really ( £38,000) .

Good luck

the mk1 'is' more Mini, the mk2 is a 1 series with Mini bits to style it, hence the perception of comfort etc.
