The dash is all curved, in all directions. My wife likes to use her phone as satnav. What’s the done thing for putting a device (eg sprung claw type thing she has in current car) that she can put her phone in and out of? Any recommendations?

I can’t see where I could attach anything? confused

Cravenspeed IIRC correctly do a mount that goes to the right of the rev counter - check out newministuff.com or Lohen - or if you're lucky ebay or suchlike

My Mrs had hers on the screen on her R and F Mini's, no issues

Get a Brodit, I've had one on my last few cars... wouldn't go for anything else now smile

Wooden wheel? Nice!

Following with interest as the one I use (long arm suckered to the window) is rubbish.

I might try this one that has a very soft rubber bit that's meant to stick well to curved surfaces. £23.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Exogear-ExoMount-iPhones-...

I looke up Brodit but the clip for minis that attaches above glove box doesn't look ideal to me

Ps yes has English oak which I really like!

By "Sticks to curved surfaces" do you mean the dashboard?

If so, then I think you might be disappointed, the dash is textured so that will have next to no chance of sticking to the dash.

ETA: Just re-read the amazon description and see what you mean, I'd be sceptical about it sticking to the dash myself.

I ended up going for one that drops into the CD slot. Works pretty well if you only use very occasionally (like I do) but best avoided otherwise - too easy to knock it flying during a particularly aggressive 2nd->3rd shift laugh

hmmm. Otherwise it's the craven speed gemini mount. I like it but a) it's 80 quid which is a lot, and b) it put the phone to the right of the wheel when I'd rather it be to the left ie more central to the cabin. I don' think I can go with that. Also I can't find even 1 picture with it fitted to a high-hand drive car.

why the hell they (or someone) doesn't make one that goes to the other side I don't know. Can't be that difficult to make.

Stupid question but it looks like it can be flipped around 180 degrees and so mounted either side? Assuming the actual gripper bit is removable and can go on front or back.

If that’s not how it works, the designer missed a bloody obvious trick wink

That’s what I was thinking.

Only two reasons I can see that would prevent it being swapped around:

1) If the arm section that reaches out is canted forward or backward for some specific reason (so fitting it reversed causes it to be canted the wrong way)
2) If the gripping bit is fixed specifically to one side and can't be moved

Someone on here must have one of these?

I agree I’ve got a Bury CC9068 Bluetooth handsfree kit mounted on a Brodit mount and it’s a really tidy installation, unfortunately due to the quirky design of the dash there aren’t many alternatives.
