Hi all,
Just had the 'new' Cooper (old 2002 car with 122000 miles) out for a bit of a test drive and a fault manifested itself.

The car was fine while driving but when I pulled up to park , it stuttered and stalled. When I fired it back up the engine light and EML light were illuminated and it was in 'safe mode' limit d to about 2k rpm and pretty much wouldn't go.
After a couple of restarts with the same issue I started it again but giving it some gas and it was ok again, EML light went out and the car was driving fine although the check engine light was still on.

Diagnostics threw this up (ignore the first one, that is a separate issue I need to address!)

A bit of googling leads me to believe that it is likely that I need to replace the throttle position sensor , but I thought I should look for advice here first!

This won't be super helpful, but I had similar codes on my 2005 MCS. I just cleared them and that was it, it never came back.

I cleared mine too, I think I am narrowing down the symptoms and also have learned how to deal with it.

Yesterday the check engine light was on for a 60 mile trip with no issues. This morning it wasn't on, I went for a ten mile drive and parked up, when I got back in the car the engine light and EML light ignited and the car went into safe mode. I switched off the ignition for a second and started it with a bit of throttle and the car was fine again, no warning lights at all for the journey home.
I am just going to use the car and give it a good thrashing and see how it goes !
