R56 Central Locking issue

the Mrs' R56 (57 plate) mini is starting to have some central locking issues.

1) First issue was during locking/unlocking the driver side door wouldn't unlock straight away, would take a few lock/unlock cycles for it to open All other locks were working as were all other electrics, wipers etc

2) This morning the drivers door wouldn't open and neither would the boot, passenger side was opening okay. Used the key to unlock & get inside but the button for locking/unlocking wasn't working as it has in the past but after messing around opening/closing the door, locking/unlocking the door opened.

My initial feeling as perhaps something in the driver side door, broken cable perhaps but it now seems to be a bigger issue. Read online that the RCL (remote central locking) module can sometimes go, is this likely & is it easy to replace?

Could it be as simple as the battery in the key fob dying? She had it changed over a year ago but with the internal button not working it makes me think it isn't this.

Any help would be appreciated.
