Hello everyone,

I have owned an R56 Mini JCW for some time now and im looking at getting another bigger car in the new year (bigger engine, more room etc MK2 Focus RS)

But I love the JCW and I want to turn it into an absolute weapon in the meantime, stage 2 would be the target.

Just wondering if anyone has had or knows anyone who has tuned an R56 JCW and if they can handle the extra power? Evolve, manic motorsport map etc!

Clutch, turbo, engine can it cope?

Any information would be awesome as if this car can run more power it would be a hilarious drive and an animal on track,

Cheers for reading,

Chris

Maybe don't,

Manic seems to be the tune of choice, but supported with engine strengthening it could be great perhaps.

1320.co.uk are the people to accurately tune Mini's. Mine is R53 though and Lohen can't map them at all, but they can fit stuff, and sell stuff. :-)

There'll be several recommendations I suppose, I was put off Lohen because they can't tune the cars they sell tuning parts for, and also were pushing uprated ignition coils as part of basic tuning kits which simply aren't required, but that's just my2p.

1320 for R53's, and Lohen (or Sussex Road & Race) for R56's - depending on which end of the country you're at/

I'd also recommend Orranje/Millsys if you're close to Nuneaton... top guys and the best prices by far.

My 2010 FJCW R55 has been running the Manic stage 2 map (along with uprated intercooler/AEM intake/de-cat downpipe) for just over 3 years now, 235 @ the wheels (approx. 270 odd bhp) no probs with the map, but the clutch did give up the ghost after almost a year, no surprise really as adding 50bhp was always going to find a weak point. Had the Manic map done at 1320MINI, which was nice as they've got their dyno to do before & after power runs just to make sure all's running well.

Although it's my daily I do use it on track & rwyb days at Santa Pod, it's pretty nippy & great fun to drive

The Brembo 4 pots? Yes mate, & standard pads too, never had a problem with them.

I don't rate the standard Cooper s ones in my n18 r55. In face I'd say they are crap.

You should have tried owning an R53 on stock brakes - they were interesting.
