On her way to work this morning something flicked up from the road and hit Mrs ZS's o/s headlight. Bit of a stter as she's only just got the car frown

From the pic she's sent it looks like the lens is cracked and the chrome headlight surround is missing. I'm just wondering if anyone knows (a) roughly how much a new unit/surround will cost, and (b) if it's a relatively straightforward diy job? (am I being optimistic by hoping you can just undo a couple of screws and the whole unit lifts out?)

I'll have a proper look tonight, but don't think there's any other damage to the bodywork, etc.

(Should also add they're halogen headlights, not xenon)

The chrome surround is attached to the bonnet and appears to be easily removable/replaceable with the bonnet open.

With the bonnet open it should then be evident how the light is fitted - perhaps removal will be asy as it's not attached to the bonnet?

That's unfortunate.
(a) Dealer expect around £500+VAT; have a look at secondhand parts.
(b) Looks fairly straight-forward on the R56: https://youtu.be/7_EmrvzT9HI I would expect the F56 to be similar.

Cheers for the replies. Replacement does look pretty straightforward so will have a proper look tonight and then search for secondhand parts (my brief look online at lunch struggled to turn up much).

As it's close to her work, Mrs ZS stopped by MINI at lunch and was quoted £335 for a replacement unit and chrome surround (incl fitting), which although not cheap was less than I was expecting. Worse case we'll go there, but hoping to pick something up cheaper and do myself!

Likewise Listers MINI Boston, speak to Chris Cook. Even with p&p costs they can be very competitive.

If you're confident on changing it yourself (looks straightforward), I've seen a few headlight units on ebay (LED and halogen) for around the £150 mark. Worth having a look.

Just checked there, a few halogens at £50 and a few LED/Xenons at £100.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Ordered a replacement halogen unit/surround for just under £300 to pick up tomorrow, it looks pretty straightforward so happy to do myself at the weekend.
