We have a 2010 Mini Cooper with run flat tyres all round - can you mix them ordinary tyres? Assume at the very least you would need to do both wheels at a time at either end?

No

and no sensible tyre place will fit them for you either.

ETA: Also advisable to let your insurance company know you have taken them (runflats) off.

You would be silly to mix them. The walls react and are built differently so it would likely cause very strange handling (akin to different pressures)

Actually you can mix them, axle sets, it's fine, but you may see a tyre pressure light more frequently that's all, it's more common than you think, and when you consider the numbers of people mixing brands of remarkably different tyres on any other car, you might see it's not much different. You know a run flat tyre is just a thick sidewall that can support the car for longer, it isn't full of wizardry that will stop the car if you change spec. The biggest issue is dealing with getting stuck with a puncture when moving away from rft's.
