I've got a 2007 R52 Cooper S convertible with xenon headlights option.

Drivers side headlight has stopped working. Having pulled it apart I see its not the bulb Halfords are offering me and owners manual says take xenons to a dealer.

Any other options? Is it likely to be bulb or igniter?

Cheers, Andy

The ballast failing is common - your best bet is to swap the bits over one at a time with the working side, to see if it's the bulb or the ballast.

I've never had the ballast fail, but I've replaced the bulbs and they were easy to find on ebay etc

When mine went I got a whole brand new headlight for about £120 (about 5 years ago mind you) ballasts weren't much cheaper

Bulb and ballast check out OK. Garage are suggesting new headlight unit having tried mine in different car and still not working...
